Every book starts with an idea, a spark, a moment of inspiration, and travels through many hands until it ends its journey with a child. This blog will track the journey of one book, written by James Mayhew, and illustrated by Jackie Morris.

Well simplicity often works best. But I love the layout of the more complex one, it might work very nicely if the shark is in the same tones as the water kind of subdued?
Hello by the way, sorry I haven't written... life got crazy as you migh well know yourself ;)
They are supposed to be big blue whales! Glad I didn't start painting though as there is some debate now as to whether we have a cloth spine. Oh dear, I can feel distraction coming on again!
oops! Sorry for calling them sharks! :)
Both are gorgeous. Personally I prefer the lovely sweeping lines of the top one. I've been enjoying your pics of Devon!
They both look good.
I have just come across something that I thought I had lost - "a bag of greeting cards too beautiful to send or throw away". One of my favourites is one of yours, designed for Aries cards, a very decorative Noah's Ark. It has a lovely marbled envelope.
I remember that card. I painted it the week after Hannah was born and the weather was sunny. We still have the painting which belongs to Hannah. They say greetings cards have a life of about 2 weeks so that one is doing very well!
Still waiting to hear from publisher. It seems they may have decided to change their mind on the cloth binding but forgot to tell me. Doh!
Have you decided yet? I like the mirror aspect of the top one personally...
