A parcel in brown paper

They arrived in the post, two copies, one US, one UK. I unpacked them carefully, nervous. The road to producing the book had been a long and not always happy one for me.
And they looked beautiful. And all the effort and strain did not show in the finished book which I hope will become a treasured favorite.
James and I have already had a review which compares his words to those of Robert Louis Stevenson and says that the book is destined to become a children's classic. How lovely.

I still think of the book as Starlight Starbright.
I so look forward to working with James again, soon, on a new book.
Please let us know what you think of the book, and through the paperboat adventures blog, or through Barefoot Books website, let us hear your paper boat adventures.

Can't wait to read this to my children...and, one day perhaps, my children's children. : )

I am sure it will be appreciated by many for years to come.

Will look forward to more by you and James as well!

The book is stunning, Jackie! I am so looking forward to getting my hands on a copy. The process was probably more painful than it needed to be, but the results look absolutely worth all the work you put into it.

I just looked and it's available for pre-order on amazon.com and amazon.co.uk, with a November release date. Strangely, the U.S. site has a longer write-up...and both sites have what seems to be an older version of the cover, with much darker blues and no gold stars. Hopefully they'll update it when they get newer info from Barefoot (who has nothing about the book yet on their site that i could find).

How thrilling! Congratulations on what looks to be a beautiful book.

I just checked the Canadian Amazon site and it says it will be available here in Nov. '09.

I will certainly be getting a copy for my little son.

I've just discovered this blog and have this evening read it from start to finish! An absolutely fascinating insight into your working world. I don't like to gush, but I do love your work, I was looking at my Barefoot Poems book today which has led me on this little cyber journey. Thank you! I've added Starlight Sailor to my Amazon wishlist for myself & my children to enjoy. I hope you're able to blog about your next project, in the meantime I'll follow the cats...

Jackie- I'm such a fan of your work- you have no idea! The story of the boy with the BFB of Classic Poems made me weep a little (shamelessly). I felt the same way when I first saw it. I can't wait to read this book when it comes out! I'm a Barefoot Books Ambassador and will definitely be marketing your "Starlight Starbright..." Would you mind if I link your blog to mine when I announce the book's arrival? Blessings!

Congratulations on the unveiling of your labor of love~ I, too, will look for a copy for myself to read to my grand babies, and my lovely, red headed cat named Opie Taykor. Or as he prefers to be call Opie-Wan-Kenobe. Wonderful blog!
