Every book starts with an idea, a spark, a moment of inspiration, and travels through many hands until it ends its journey with a child. This blog will track the journey of one book, written by James Mayhew, and illustrated by Jackie Morris.

Gorgeous! I love the way the tiger's wrapped round them and the colours. Could I ask you what size you work? :)
This book is 24.5 cms and is square format. I am working same size so this one is 49cms long. Painting on arches hot press 300gms with windsor and newton artist quality watercolours. Lots of French Ultra marine.
The dragon book is a slightly larger format and I am doing the artwork for that too big so it won't fit on the scanners but the publishers haven't noticed yet so shhhhh. Don't tell them. Might have to pay for the scanning myself.
What fabulous paintings. I love them to bits and can't wait for the book to be published so that it can sit beside 'Can you see a little Bear', which although it is mine, my daughter also loves and thinks should be hers!
