The Starlight blog will continue. Although I have finished the artwork in many ways the book's journey has only just begun as it needs to be designed and proofed and then off to Bologna and hopefully it will pick up some publishers from around the world. Then it has to find its way through the massive avalanche of books that are published into bookshops and libraries both in the UK and USA, and to reviewers who are swept on a tide of books, where it will hopefully stand out enough to be noticed. All this will be followed here.
But now I need to ask advice. The Ice Bear artwork and progress will return to my journal on my website here.
I have a book that I am hoping to write very soon, the words and pictures clamour to get from my head to a page. Also I am hoping to work on a book of Nursery Rhymes with Frances Lincoln. Would you like me to do one or other of these books on a blog as I have with Starlight? Would it be useful? It would be different as the one would be written and illustrated by me and taken right from the time of pitching to a publisher, and the other would be collated by me, so there would be the process of choosing the rhymes and deciding the format. Frances Lincoln already have said that they want the nursery rhyme book and that would be my preferred one to blog. The start of Starlight was slow and so would a new blog be as most of my time will be spent in the world of the Ice Bear.
So if there is a demand for this I will work on on and blog at the same time, otherwise will just continue with the website journal. Look forward to hearing from you.

I would really appreciate it if you could blog on your own work from it's beginnings to it's being published. But the nursery rhyme book sounds cool too.
(I have my own extra verses I sing to my little girl for twinkle twinkle, and hickory dickory dock - just by way of interest!!!)
Morning Jac,
Yes, yes and yes!
It would be wonderful to have another blog from start to finish. I would enjoy the Nursery Rhyme one, as it's very challenging and exciting to find new ways to work on rhymes which have been around forever - you will be brilliant at this, I can just imaging the rich and diverse imagery! Oooh, when can you start it!!
So exciting about Starlight Sailor going to Bologna, love the title too!
Better go - procrastinating on here!
Typical! When I am in Bologna you aren't and vice versa ;) All the best of luck!
I always love to hear and see how your books take shape. Either one sounds interesting. Not very helpful I'm afraid.
it would be a wonderful thing to see your own words & work taking shape, and coming together. yes please do!
Oh YES! Jackie one of my favorite parts of my morning is reading your blogs. I start at your website, then visit the gingers and end up with Starlight. You and the gingers (and the doggies too) make me laugh and make me cry. Your starlight blog has inspired me in my own work and has given me such insight into the life and work of a professional artist. I would love to see your own book take shape. And I adore Ice Bears!!!
I check both of your blogs and your website daily for updates, enjoying the different focus of each. I have enjoyed both the technical process of creating Starlight and the personal ups and downs that
inspire or affect your work. I would love to see Ice Bear evolving, but would certainly follow the collecting and illustrating of nursery rhymes.
Hi Jackie. I'd love to see a blog for whichever new project(s) you work on. I've really enjoyed watching Starlight Sailor come to fruition (and i look forward to his further adventures as the book heads in the the publishing sea!), and would greatly enjoy watching the whole creative process of another project of yours.
Oh yes! A blog of the whole journey right from the very seeds of you own idea would be wonderful!x
Would love to see the "start to finish" of your own book, but the lure of nursery rhyme illustrations from your brush is also irresistable. If has to be one or the other, go for your own work ...
Love the journal and of course, the Gingers forever as well ...
Want to know about Glyn's progress as well ... if he had live in assistance would being in his own familiar surroundings comfort him?
Ricka
I've loved following the tribulations you've gone through with this book. I remember how you almost gave up on it but then were reinspired. This has been a lesson to me when I go through my winter blues that I will come out of this and be ble to work on my fabric art or gourd art once again. So I would like very much to follow you through from beginning to end of a project that appears to be impelling you forward.
Both are wonderful , but your own work from start to finish would be a journey for all of us.
Both would be fasinating, suppose it has to come down to which you would find most rewarding to share your journey with. Your own proberly has the edge through!
I would enjoy following your next creative wanderings, whatever it may be.I think my vote would be for your own book.
Quite chuffed that Starlight Sailor was chosen....now my grandsons will be waiting even more eagerly for the book to be available.
Please take some time and "treats" to recharge your batteries,
Hi Jackie!
I would love to be able to follow both (leaning a little more to your own book) - but will happily defer to your decision!!
Hi Jackie,
The Starlight blog was wonderful and such an insight. So generous of you to put so much time and effort into showing us all this window into the world of illustration!
I (selfishly) would love to see you blog your own written work, partly because I hope to write and illustrate my own in the future and it would be an invaluable insight, but also because I just really love your way of writing...
Best wishes, Carrie...
Yes please!
Yours from start to finish - would be very helpful to follow!!
I, too, would like to see your own story in progress, but ultimately, the decision must be yours. And I did note that you have a preference for the nursery rhymes.
Whichever you choose, I'll be following your generous sharing.
Ummm let me think about that. YES!
I would love for you to blog your journey of illustrating and writing your own work. Starlight has been not just a beautiful journey to follow but a very generous one. I was wondering what I could do with myself once Starlight started to whined down. I would miss visiting everyday.
You are so generous with what you share Jackie - I am constantly inspired and motivated by all that you share.
Would always love to see your work and its processes, but not if it gets in the way of the work!
Whichever is easiest for you to manage - do that.
After all, there are gingers, Max, dogs and teenagers to feed and Pixie to have conversations with... and bread to bake and... so which is easiest for you.
