Almost finished. Sometimes I have to photograph a piece and look at it in the computer to see if things need changing.

I do that all the time Jackie. It's better than using a mirror. I take a photo and look at the thumbnail on my camera. I can see immediately what need reworking.
Sometimes I try out colour schemes in photoshop also. The Dragon that I just finished didn't know if he liked a dark or a light background until we tried it out ;)
I know what you mean Jackie, it's like having a new pair of eyes. I look at pictures in the mirror for the same reason!x
I just wanted to tell you how much I have loved watching your dragon paintings evolve and grow, since I found your blog!
Tricks I have tried to see what has been infront of my eyes for too long. 1. Taking a photo.
2. squinting.
3 getting a mirror.
4. walking outside and peering in through the window, which can be embarrassing if someone walks past and you have to explain that you are not being nosy, and that you live there.
#4 made me laugh out loud! The dragon and her friends are looking very beautiful. I've started taking pictures of my quilts as i'm laying the pieces out...first i can see if the color/design balance is off...and second i have something to refer to in case "someone" walks through the pieces before i can pin them down.
Hi again! The other thing I used to do (when I painted large abstracts and needed to stand back a long way and didn't have the space!) was to look at the painting through the wrong end of a pair of binoculars....and another was to turn the painting upside down to check the composition was working!:Dx
