Every book starts with an idea, a spark, a moment of inspiration, and travels through many hands until it ends its journey with a child. This blog will track the journey of one book, written by James Mayhew, and illustrated by Jackie Morris.

This is my favourite of the two Jackie, the Dragon's expression is very like the little boy's Mother. Which do you prefer? I can hardly wait for it to be published. I'll be getting a copy for my children (or maybe just me!!!)

I really love your Dragons! This one here is particularly cute and friendly!
I prefer this one.
When I was a kid we used to call our mum The Soup Dragon after the dragon in the Clangers. I think maybe the dream dragon is the boys mum.

ps, just to let you know, Dragonlady, I am working on a cover for the new Robin Hobb. Sshhhh..... It is about, guess what.......dragons!
I, too, like this dragon--he seems approachable in spite of his formidable size.
I really like them both, but this one is sweeter, with the Dragon bringing her face down to everyone's level, the dog on her paw and the panda touching her nose...wonderful! I can hardly wait for the book to come out!
In this one the dragon looks so gentle. It'll be amazing in colour!x
I love this one! It reminds me how our horses liked to be rubbed on the forehead just there.
Oooh! What wonderful news! You're so lucky!
I know that Robin has been working on a book in the Rainwilds again. I can't wait to read it!
When Robin Hobb re released her books with your covers I went out and bought them all again. Obsessive? Maybe, but I love the covers and I'm glad you are going to be doing more. My Mum was happy, she got all the old Hobb books!
